Panera Communication Censorship
Today, after work and before yoga, I did a little work at Panera Bread in Ballston. Done with the day labour, and wanting to check what’s up with the world, I typed in http://dc.metblogs.com expecting to find the latest in DC gossip. Instead, I got the notice at right, which says:
The SonicWALL Content Filter Has Blocked this site. If you feel this site has been blocked in error, Please submit a URL Rating Review at: http://cfssupport.sonicwall.com
URL: http://dc.metblogs.com/
Reason for restriction: Forbidden Category
Forbidden Category, eh? I wonder which one that is? Snide Commenatry? Jaded Lifestyles? Or maybe Reality Check?
What’s your take?
Actually, they think we’re porn.
Probably reviewed us when we were talking about wonkette.
Oops.
I went ahead and requested a re-evaluation. Says it’ll take 3-5 days. Adult/Mature is a little strong but there was no category for “Opinion” or “Zeitgeist.”
Wow, I just input a bunch of other metblogs sites and they’re listed as News & Media, Lifestyle/Culture or Arts/Entertainment. What have you guys been posting over here?
What the hell, we’re the only DC blog that’s NOT about assfucking!
aaaaaaaaaand there goes our re-evaluation.
This is what happened when I was at my parents for two weeks and they have DIAL UP… I spent way too much time at Panera working and couldn’t get to MBDC.
This is why I’m not for “free” high speed from cities/towns (putting aside the fact that it’s not free at all – but that’s another talk). Someone else is controlling your access, which means they can employ whatever restrictions they want.
At least we’re not alone. BoingBoing is censored by SmartFilter, which according to the NYTimes means that multiple corporate worksites ban them.
I wonder how we’re catagorized by SmartFilter? Halliburton shills, can you read this?
