Obsolete technology 50% off!

Local bookseller Olsson’s is having a closeout sale on portable CD players. iPod users may recall them as bulky, old style devices that actually required physical media to play music.

As The Gambler (Kenny Rogers, not Fyodor Dostoevky) once said “you got to know when to fold ’em” so, with the advent of the iPod, it is with a sense of loss and days gone by that we bid the personal cd player adieu and send it on its merry way to the hallowed halls of the Smithsonian. But before we do that, here is one last chance for you to add this piece of “retro” technology to your antiques collection. Through the month of March, all personal cd players will be 50% off the list price*. Choose from a selection of Coby, JWIN, and Sony, arguably the best purveyors of consumer electronics. It’s the perfect addition to your collection that already includes the 8-track, cassette, and Beta tapes and players. -Elizabeth (Gift Buyer) *please note…all sales final/no holds/no additional markdowns

Color me surprised Olsson’s is quoting Kenny Rogers.

How funny….just this morning I saw a girl with a cd player and I thought about how great it is in a time of ipod madness that people still use clunky cd players….
