On September 29, 2004, Mayor Anthony Williams announced that baseball was back in D.C. Now 524 days later, it can finally be said that it will remain here for a long time. Last night, the D.C. Council approved the lease (The Post) between the city and Major League Baseball, seemingly clearing the last hurdle remaining between the two organizations. The next step for MLB is to name an owner, while the District will unveil the ballpark design.
