Dogs in DC hotels?

So what do I spy in my San Francisco hotel room but a dog checking in with her owner. A short conversation later I learn this is a common guest in the west. And here I thought that dogs, like smokers, should be kept outside.

Do any DC hotels allow pets in rooms, especially ones as big as Precious here?

I’m pretty sure that Hotel Monaco does.

does that mean they have to ask if you want a non-smoking room and a pet-free room?

I think all the Kimpton group hotels (http://www.kimptonhotels.com/hotels.aspx) are pet-friendly, which include Hotel George, Hotel Helix, Hotel Madera, Topaz Hotel, Hotel Monaco, and Hotel Rouge here in DC.

I asked for the pet-free floor. Coming home drunk and finding a Great Dane in the hall would really put a zap to my head.
