Chicken Little

No sooner had I commented on Tom’s post from last night when all hell broke loose around here. I actually saw lighting and heard thunder, along with the heavy snow that was coming down. The power flickered and went out a few times. Finally, I fell into slumber.

Around 6am I was fast asleep when, in what I thought was a dream, I heard a large crash. Several of them in fact. I thought perhaps a car had lost control and smashed into another parked on the street. Dreams can be triggered by all sorts of things, so I figured it was the thunder and snuggled back in for a few more hours.

Ah, not so I was to discover when I woke up to a tasty breakfast of crow. Not only had an electrical pole come down outside, so had the large branch of a tree in the front yard—landing on and entombing the Miata parked on the street out front. Miraculously, the power is not out here (and if it was thank god for laptops with batteries or I wouldn’t be writing this).

The sky is falling, the sky is falling! And indeed it was.
