The Little DJ Night That Could
One half of Re:sonance DJ’s – DJ Balance aka Chris Diamond – will be guest spinning at the Marx Cafe on Mt. Pleasant St. tonight.
This evening is the 2 year anniversary party of We Fought The Big One the DC post-punk/shoegaze night that we here at Metroblog DC helped save from extinction back in August. It’s nice to see our friends starting off their third year properly with a kick-ass guest DJ.
Head out to Marx Cafe to show “the little DJ night that could” some support as they enter year three. The music starts at 10:30 and there’ll be a free 2-year Anniversary mix CD for all at the door!
ok, could you explain this to a clueless girl? the august 4th post said that “taking the piss” was gone, but i thought that’s what i went to at Marx Cafe two fridays ago… soooo what was i listening to that night? (i know it wasn’t salsa!)
what is the reggae night at marx called, and how often is it? is it still on?
Hey Jen M. – “Taking the piss” returned to the Marx Cafe on November 18 2005 – yay!
Rob – no clue dude – I’ll ask when i’m up there tonight.
The reggae night (also done by Mark Williams, of Taking The Piss) is called SoundClash.
P.S. I’ll be at Marx tonight!
I think (I should know by now, I go to the Marx DJ nights often enough) that SoundClash is the third Friday of the month–which might make it what you caught at Marx a couple weeks ago, Jen M.
it definitely wasn’t reggae either. since nov. 18th happened to be the third friday in november, i’m thinking the third fridays are the revived taking the piss.
now that we’ve figured that out, i’ll have to check out “we fought the big one” sometime.
I started a yoohoo group for 60’s soul, garage, and reggae and am trying to nail down when Soundclash and Taking the Piss is so I can get them on the calendar. Can’t find a website for Marx – worst case, I’ll call.
Cheers,
Rob
