uh, i don't think that burrito cookoff story is true. the guy who runs the cart now bought the original recipe off the prior guy, so it wouldn't really matter whether he had the best pre-takeover burrito, you know?

i used to eat at that 15th and K cart every day, but i have to say that the new guy's burritos are not quite as good as the old guy's. i'm not sure why, if he's using the same recipes. anyway, they are still great burritos. i like mine with jalapeno/tequila hot sauce. mmm, maybe i should stop over there today.

Awesome! It's been years since I worked at 15th & H Sts and a bunch of us from the office would walk to 15th & K and line up for our burrito from the Burrito Nazi (of course, he was not like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld - in this reference, it is more of an endearment). You did have to know what you wanted before the person before you got their burrito so he could throw your tortilla on the heat and whatever cheese you wanted on it.

It was the first time (b/c it's been a few years, prior to Chipotle before burritos were the norm as a lunch option) we saw that you could have burritos in tortillas made of spinach or sundried tomato AND the Burrito Nazi also had magazines for you to read b/c the line got so long.

I miss my Burrito Nazi...
