A New Delta Direct: DCA-MLB

While Jen is right, small-town Florida isn’t up to speed, we both have family down here, which means the obligatory trips home. Unlike Jen, I love coming down for a long weekend at a time – it’s the only way to ensure a deep, rich tan all winter that strikes envy in the hearts of ass-white snow-bunny Yankees.

Starting today, sun runs for us with family on the Space & Treasure Coasts will be getting so much easier and quicker. Delta Connection carrier Comair are introducing the only non-stop flights between Melbourne and Washington, D.C.’s National Airport. I just checked the schedules and the 6:45pm departure time from DCA pared with a 6:45am departure from MLB means you can get your full sun + fam dose for a weekend, without missing a minute of work.

Sees ya soon on a beach like this:

See, here’s the sad thing – I don’t tan. I just burn. Not good. And whenever I go down to FL, it’s never sunny anyway. I was beginning to think it’s all a hoax, the “Sunshine” State. But more likely, my parents just moved to the wrong side of FL… seems the Atlantic side is really where it’s at!!

Don’t feel bad, I lived in Miami for my first thirty years and drove a convertable for the last four. I still never managed better than a middlin farmer’s tan.

As far as the travel, for me it’s Jet Blue’s awesome service from IAD to Ft Lauderdale. It had been years since I’d been to MIA and after my Dec 25th experience it’ll be as many more as I can manage. Sorry family, you’ll have to make the 45 minute drive to fetch me – I ain’t going near that boondoggle again if I can help it!

Well too bad for you two – I tan up nice and dark. Darker than many black folk even, just ask those I styled naturally with in New Orleans.

And too bad for me that IAD adds $100 in taxi fare to my plane flight. Remember, I am car-fee DC, so BWI is actually closer & easier for me to reach.

DCA, of course, is the sweet spot. Ever fly Spirit Air? I find it cheap & convenient for DCA to FLL.
