Ray's is on my list to try but I think the Capitol Chophouse is pretty good and they've got some great garlic mashed potatos.

Smith and Wollensky, hands down, and less expensive than the Morton's and Palm's of the world!! On 19th between L and M. Plus - they have the best preztel bread around and have a friendly staff. If you have four or more people you can get the glass kitchen table.

On the bread: <a href="http://dc.metblogs.com/archives/2005/11/street_vendors.phtml" rel="nofollow">http://dc.metblogs.com/archives/2005/11/street_vendors.phtml</a>

Best Steak in DC is actually in Arlington. Ray's The Steaks.

There literally is no finer establishment that serves steak. It's a little pricy, dinner for two with wine will run you about $150 with tip, but Ray's is it:

1725 Wilson Blvd.
Arlington, VA
703-841-7297

Seriously, awesome. But call ahead for reservations.

Second Choice is Bobby Van's downtown.
