Bigamy and the oldest profession in Fairfax

We’ve lived in Springfield before, but apparently were never in the know about the place to go for a good time. Springfield, known for the infamous “mixing bowl” and for Franconia Road’s high concentration of churches per linear mile, is also the home of a formerly successful brothel. The owners of this brothel deposited over $730,000 in their bank accounts, purchased over $600,000 in property, and when the police made the bust, they found an additional $168,000 in the house. At the end of the day, the brothel owners ended up forfeiting two propterties, an SUV, and thousands in cash. Add to this all their back taxes and the potential for up to 15 years in jail, and we find that perhaps crime doesn’t pay. You’ll have to give credit to the brothel owners for trying to expand the profits of their enterprise into real estate, though.

As if that wasn’t enough, this week, a Fairfax County man was indicted on a felony bigamy charge. Fairfax tried to nail this guy for bigamy after he married his seventh wife without divorcing his sixth wife before the county realized that the sixth marriage was invalid, and the charges were dropped. Not so for Chesapeake, though. They decided to indict the man on bigamy charges stemming from his sixth marriage in Chesapeake. Let the good times roll!
