Rivalry of rivalries…

The missing Commander in Chief’s trophy was finally found in Bancroft Hall at the Naval Academy in Annapolis earlier this week, marking an exciting start to the insane rivalry known as the Army-Navy game. This year is even more interesting since the trophy is up for grabs and the series now stands at 49-49-7. Navy dominated last year, but this contest should prove to be a much tougher one with a stronger Army team, and a relatively inexperienced Navy team (I heard that Navy only had 6 players returning from last year’s phenomenal season from Boomer on Elliot this morning).

I’m sure the pre-game festivities will include the U. S. Navy Leap Frogs (pictured), the Army Golden Knights (both parachute teams) and probably a flyover from aircraft representing army and naval aviation. Last year, we had four F-14’s from VF-143 (The World Famous Pukin’ Dogs) make a low level pass over the field. Game time is 2:30pm and the game will be aired on CBS. Let’s see if Navy can take the lead in the 106th game of this rivalry and keep the Commander in Chief’s Trophy in the metro DC area instead of the New York metro area.

On another note, the Washington Post ran an article about sponsors at the Naval Academy. Sponsor families are extremely special and often not thanked enough for what they do for the midshipmen at the Naval Academy so here’s a toast to all those families who provided us a home away from home, huzzah!
