I think there are a bunch of people who feel it is their right to go through life without ever being offended by anything. Personally, that kind of mentality offends me. It's funny how society tries to accommodate everyone and offend none by calling something a 'holiday' tree/party/greeting/etc. while maintaining Dec 25 as a federal holiday. Is that the "Holiday day"?

I say forget the Christmas or Holiday tree. It is time to get a Festivus pole.

"It's a Festivus for the rest of us!"

It's interesting, this movement of "take back Christmas" and "don't call it a 'holiday' tree/party/whatever" has been growing lately.

For the "Christmas tree," I find it especially interesting as it used to be frowned upon in America by Christians for religious reasons (the Puritans were very anti-decoration, as were Cromwell's followers in England), along with the actual celebration of Christmas itself.

And then there's the whole history of the tree itself and how many trace it back to paganism. Fascinating how we go round and round on the subject still.
