In other protest news…

A bunch of protesters were arrested on Pennsylvania Avenue earlier today. Among them was Cindy Sheehan. The protestors sat on the sidewalk after marching on the pedestrian walkway on Penn. Ave. and were warned by the police that they were breaking the law by not moving. Sheehan was the first arrested, and while she was cuffed and led away, the other protestors chanted, “The whole world is watching.” Except, actually, the whole world was at work, because it’s Monday and we have things to do.

Actually, I think I saw part of this – do you know what time it was?

At lunch I went to do some banking, opposite Treasury, and there was a tense police presence, cars and motorcycles, and a large crowd opposite the White House. Of course, I didn’t approach any further because I always remember how those innocent bystanders got swept up by the police brigade that one time near Freedom Plaza.

That would be a great way to start the week: “Where’ve you been? That was a long lunch break!” “Oh, in jail.”

Most news sources filed the story about an hour ago, but they’re not reporting what time the arrest happened.

Hee, my boss wanted to go to the protests on Saturday and was hoping he wouldn’t get arrested, since he left for Europe yesterday. I can imagine him using his one phone call to try to get his tickets refunded.

Matter of priorities I suppose, Jenn. Personally I could do with a bit of consulting pay from the DC police.
