Who’s your favorite street vendor?

Do you have a favorite food & sundries street vendor in downtown DC? You know, the little kiosks on street corners that sell everything from half-smokes to Cokes, bananas to burritos, chips to crackers.

I love my Carlos at the corner of 17th and K street NW. He’s the guy with the green awning in front of Dress Barn (now that’s a crap name) who sells all manner of high end coffee from espresso to cappuccino, and makes the best lunch burrito street food in DC.

Its not the best street food ever. That title is shared between noodle stands in China and fish & rice cooks in Mali, but tasty none the less. His burritos could only be better if he added fried eggs and chorizo.

I’m not really a fan of hot dogs or half-smokes so I don’t know who serves the best in those artery-cloggers. You have any favorites?

I go to the OTHER burrito guy on K Street, at K and 15th — although I see Carlos sometimes as a backup for homemade burritos. However, I think that K & 15th burrito guy has a superior product when it comes to burritos. He has a hundred kinds of hot sauce, too, which is a major bonus when you like to experiment and challenge yourself like I do :-)

The hotdog cart at Vermont and L st was a favorite when I worked at Thomas Circle, now I’m without a good hotdog vendor since we’ve moved to 12th and F.
