Mark Plotkin 1, ESPN 0

About a month ago, we talked about SportCenter dissing DC, choosing to eschew the District for suburban locations in Maryland and Virginia as part of their 50 Days in 50 States plan. Well, that pissed off local states rights’, er, district rights? hmmm…is there a word for “We want to be a state, but the government won’t let us” rights? Anyhow, Mark Plotkin got all ticked off when ESPN snubbed the District, so he went and got Jesse Jackson involved, who apparently didn’t have anything better to do that pester ESPN over this. However, it appears that they’ve won, and ESPN will broadcast SportsCenter on the grounds of the Capitol on 5 September, Labor Day. Way to go, guys. Glad we’re not some paper tiger here in the District.
