Well, you can always do what I did for a year to solve this problem... move West my young man, move West.

I felt that my intertnal clock was set at least 3 hours too late, so I moved to LA (for other reasons as well). For at least 6 months, I was in at 6:30am, in time to catch our now indited COO talking to the NYC stock handlers about trades. I wonder why I was never called to testify?

Besides the shitty work ethic of LA (west coast ingeneral) residents, I'm now back in DC. But it was fun feeling like one of those "early risers" for a while. Most of the folks strolled in out there at 10am or so... I got a 3.5 hour jump on them.

Hmm, 4pm here? Can you say New Zealand?

Good luck, and cheers!

The nice thing about getting your day started early is there is less traffic, plus when you leave work there is a lot more daylight to look forward too.

Actually, that might sound too enticing to others who may want to switch to an earlier schedule and create more congestion for me...

...us early risers are all crazy, avoid us at all cost and for pete's sake, do not go down our path of dread.

I think my favorite early riser story was a guy I worked with in SF who always got up at 5:30 so he could open Noah's Bagels just off Market, and get their first garlic bagel of the day. He swore they were best then.

Woops, let me change that post above. Strike through "Suburbanites" and replace with "Early risers".

Hmm.. I'll do that now. Ah, much better.

I live in the 'burbs (Virginia, no less) and I wake up at 7am to get into work at 8am. I live inside the beltway and work in Fairfax City.

I don't think it's just suburbanites that rise early, Wayan. I know many a city-dweller inside the beltway that rises before 6a to go on a run, make their lunch, get some housework done, all before you even peel an eyelid back. The circadian clock is an amazing thing, each of us have our own, tuned to whatever factors nature so desires...
