DC Police. Class Action Lawsuit. Need I say more?

Actually, that would help wouldn’t it? A Maryland resident was ‘detained’ as a robbery suspect nearly two years. David Sampy claims that the $1000 of cash on him at the time was taken by the police and even though he was exonerated of the charges, he received but a fraction of his money back.

The City Paper article carries only details of Sampy’s case, but the fact that a class-action lawsuit is being filed indicates a rather severe problem for a force that seems to teeter on the brink of respectability.
