As Seen On TV

I’ve always been curious if I am the only one around here who watches The West Wing?

Either way, all this hospitalization drama with Justice Rehnquist this week reminds me an awful lot of a West Wing episode from season 5 called “Seperation of Powers” in which Matthew Perry guest stars as a White House lawyer who has to visit an aged and ailing Supreme Court Justice in the hospital to convince him to retire.

I guess old Renny has lasted a few more seasons than the West Wing staff anticipated.

I’ve been thinking that too, only more about the Season 5 episode “The Supremes” where they appoint two new justices instead of one because of something to do with Donna’s parent’s cats. Absurd reasoning for sure, but it was probably the best episode of Season 5, mostly because it was so well played by both Glenn Close and William Fichtner. Too bad we can’t get those two. In fact, too bad the whole thing is fiction.

Excellent observation for sure, but please don’t credit post Season 4 episodes to Sorkin…it still has it’s moments but it’s not the same show without him. Someone please give that man some more mushrooms.

You know, I missed “The Supremes” both times it aired damn it. I have to get those DVD’s. I couldn’t remember when season Sorkin left so I just threw him in there.

Personally I think the writing team has done a bang-up job since he left. It bugs me that NBC has been knee-capping the show, time-slot and budget-wise, just because he left.

And speaking of reality vs tv – how great was Jimmy Smits’ speech in the season finale this year!

Bravo reruns the fifth season of “West Wing” practically every week, so you don’t have to wait for the DVDs.
