Organic Chinese

I ate at Mr. Chen’s Organic Chinese food the other day for the first time (basically at the corner of Calvert and Connecticut). I never really wanted to go into a basement restaurant on Connecticut when there are so many above-ground options all over, but my friend really wanted Chinese, and it’s super close to my apartment. What Mr. Chen’s lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for speedy service and pretty tasty food for the price. I won’t compare the food to any of the really good Chinese food you can get in Rockville or elsewhere, but my pork and Chinese eggplant was both spicey and quite colorful. My friend got a chicken and vegetable dish. All the veggies, although there’s no way to audit if they’re actually organic, were fresh and not over-cooked. We also got vegetable dumplings, which were nothing special, but came steaming hot and sticky. I also was able to get brown rice with my meal, which I enjoy both for taste and health. So, if their claim of organic produce is true, Mr. Chen’s Organic Chinese gets my thumbs up.
