WTOP: podcasters.

The podcasting phenomenon has really taken off during the last few months, and the mainstream media has taken notice. WTOP, which DC folks listen to mainly for the weather and traffic snippets, has recently started their own podcast. They are little snippets (~5 minutes) of news that show up on the WTOP website at around 4:30 pm every weekday, so office workers can download them onto their iPods before leaving to go home for the day. WTOP promises “to make it relevant and fun.” I listened to one of the podcasts, and it’s a decent condensation of the major local news stories of the day. Time will tell how successful this effort will be, but I do applaud WTOP for embracing new technology. You can access their main podcast page (including archives) here.
