Why didn't these folks stay home and talk to each other while they listened to all their Mum albums. They turned a potentially great show into a good show. They should all go read some Rod McCuen.

I went to the show, too, and damn that crowd was annoying. I don't like the Black Cat that much as a venue space, either--at the back of the room, you couldn't hear the band well (although I'm sure the inane chatter had something to do with it). I wound up hanging out near the side of the stage, so I could hear the music well and not be sandwiched in between all sorts of people. I couldn't see well, but if I was in the main crowd, I wouldn't be able to see well, either.
As far as Mum's performance, it was just okay. The performance overall didn't have a very cohesive feel to me--it felt like a bunch of people playing a bunch of songs. Very pretty songs, for sure, but it didn't have the feel that a good show should have. Again, this could be due to the crowd. I love their percussion, and I'm insanely jealous of the sheer number of instruments they have to play with. And it would have been nice to hear the ambient noises in their performance. I'd love to see them again, in another venue. How about an art gallery, or a warehouse-ish space?
And PBR for $3.50? I'll stick to my cup of DC lead-laden tap water, thank you. I'll probably get more of a buzz off of that, anyways...
